Montique → Cube shelf

Made in Germany — Batch 01 from winter 2026

The cube shelf in aluminium.

One cube: 36 × 36 centimetres, anodised aluminium, not one visible screw. From it grows a shelf that adapts to your life — cube by cube, move by move. Developed and made in Germany.

A cube shelf in metal instead of chipboard

Most cube shelves are made of coated chipboard or MDF: heavy, easily knocked, and worn out after the second move. Montique uses extruded aluminium — the material of façades and aircraft. Every profile carries its connecting geometry within itself; nothing is screwed on or glued in. The result is a cube shelf in metal that is lighter than wood, more precise than any slot-together system, and built for decades.

The surface is anodised, not painted: the colour — silver, black, dark green, dark blue or gold — lies in the oxide layer itself. It cannot flake off, stays UV-stable and ages with dignity.

Anodising: colour that lies in the material.

In anodising, the aluminium surface itself turns into a hard oxide layer — the colour is embedded in that layer, not applied on top. That is why nothing can flake off: scratch-resistant, UV-stable, permanently colourfast. More on this under Material & manufacture.

Carré cube shelf — four open cubes in anodised aluminium, 3D view
Free-standing, usable from both sides — no back panel, no drilling

Free-standing — a room divider too

Montique needs no wall: the cube shelf stands on its own feet, with no drilling at all. Without a back panel every cube stays open from both sides — which turns the shelf into a room divider that separates living areas without swallowing the light.

And when the flat changes: take it apart, take it along, build it again. The joint is made to be undone.

A cube shelf to your measure: the configurator

Two cubes as a sideboard, three stacked as a tower, a whole wall as a library — every configuration comes from the same basic element on the 360 mm grid. One profile costs 139 €; the system price follows from the parts, with no package mark-ups. The four starting points (Duo, Tower, Carré, Magnum) begin at 1,383 € — or plan freely in the configurator.

Common questions about the cube shelf

What are the dimensions of the Montique cube shelf?

Montique is built on a 360 mm grid: every cell is a cube of 36 × 36 cm at 32 cm deep. From it come configurations from a single cube to a whole shelf wall — freely planned in the configurator.

What is the cube shelf made of?

Anodised aluminium. In anodising, the surface itself turns into a hard oxide layer — the colour is embedded in that layer, not applied on top. Scratch-resistant, UV-stable and 100% recyclable.

Do you need tools to assemble it?

The profiles slide into the integrated joint by hand. Each connection is then fixed with a single tool in one movement — no visible screws and no fittings.

Does the cube shelf have to be drilled to the wall?

No. Montique stands freely on its own feet and needs no wall fixing — which also makes it a room divider open on both sides, and it moves house without trouble.

Can I extend the cube shelf later?

Yes — that is the heart of the system. Every configuration can be taken apart, rebuilt and extended cube by cube. Profiles stay compatible across all production batches.

What does a Montique cube shelf cost and when is it available?

The price follows from the parts of your configuration — with no package mark-ups. The four starting points begin at 1,383 €. All prices incl. VAT. Free shipping within Germany on orders over €250. Other countries on request. Batch 01 arrives from winter 2026; join the Owners list and you’ll hear the launch date first.
